Skip hire in Bedfordshire

First published 13 September 2026. Last checked 13 Sep 2026.

Ceremonial Bedfordshire is three highway authorities. Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire cover most of the historic county. Luton is a separate unitary. A skip on the public road needs a licence from the council that looks after that road.

This is a hub, not a list of firms. Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Bedfordshire”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Three authorities

Do not assume “Bedfordshire County Council” still issues licences – it does not. Match the town to Bedford, Central Bedfordshire or Luton. Private land you control: usually no highway licence. Road: yes. National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. Name the highway authority for your road and ask the firm to apply. Same-day drops are much more realistic on a driveway.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep asbestos, plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator has a written specialist route – what you cannot put in a skip and asbestos and skips.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link. Until then, use a licensed local operator and the council pages above.
