Skip hire in Bournemouth
Bournemouth is a HoC Other city – not one of the 1,174 small/medium/large towns. A skip on the public road needs a BCP Council highway licence – the skip company usually applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.
Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Bournemouth”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.
Which authority
BCP Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: BCP Council. On that page (checked 12 Sep 2026): £78 per week. registered skip operator applies online.
Private drive vs road
- Wholly on a driveway or other private land you control: no BCP Council highway licence.
- Any part on the public road or adopted highway: yes. The skip company usually applies.
- National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.
Local notes
Bournemouth sits under BCP Council with Christchurch and Poole – the same £78-per-week highway skip licence covers all three. Fee note: £78 per week, rechecked 12 Sep 2026.
The fee note above is from BCP Council’s published page (or an honest note when none was printed), not a hire quote.
How to hire without a fake directory
- Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
- If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the BCP Council highway area and ask them to apply. Give them the notice on the permit page.
- Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.
Skip Clerk lists rules and council links, not a directory of firms. When we add a booking partner it will be labelled (affiliate) on partners.
