Skip hire in Charing

First published 29 September 2026. Last checked 29 September 2026.

Charing is in the Kent County Council highway area (not Medway). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Charing

Charing is a village and civil parish in the Ashford district of Kent, at the foot of the North Downs and up to the escarpment. The parish includes Charing Heath and Westwell Leacon.

The Pilgrims' Way, the M20 and Charing station (London Victoria to Ashford International via Maidstone) serve the parish.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Charing". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

Charing sits at the foot of the North Downs in the Ashford district, with the M20 and the Pilgrims' Way nearby. Prefer a private drive; A20 frontage and the High Street leave little turning room for a large roadside skip.

Kent County Council recycling-centre guidance covers what household DIY waste each site accepts; rules and any booking or charges change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard separate when asked. Source: Kent household waste recycling centres.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Kent County Council area (not Medway) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £45 figure is Kent County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
