Skip hire in Evercreech

First published 13 September 2026. Last checked 13 September 2026.

Evercreech is in the Somerset Council highway area. A skip on the public road needs that council’s licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Evercreech

Evercreech is a village and civil parish in the former Mendip district, about 3 miles south-east of Shepton Mallet and 5 miles north-east of Castle Cary. The parish includes the hamlet of Stoney Stratton and the village of Chesterblade.

It is a working Mendip village on the A371 corridor, not a suburb of Shepton Mallet. The built-up area is classed as a village in the House of Commons Library settlement file; Shepton Mallet is the nearest larger town.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Evercreech”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Somerset Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Somerset Council. On that page (checked 2 September 2026; still the figures we cite on 13 Sep 2026): £109 for 28 days (non-refundable), extension £109, at least ten working days’ notice, accredited contractors only. Do not invent a different fee. County map and the other two unitaries: Skip hire in Somerset.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

Evercreech sits on the A371 between Shepton Mallet and Castle Cary. Village streets toward Stoney Stratton and Chesterblade are narrower than the A-road; prefer a drive if you have one.

Somerset Council’s construction-waste page lets each household bring up to eight 50-litre sacks of DIY construction waste a month to a recycling site, free, over a maximum of four booked visits. Plasterboard is on that list; extra plasterboard is listed at £6.60 a sheet. Own-home only; pre-book. Not every site takes plasterboard. How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Somerset Council area and ask them to apply. Give them more than ten working days.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £109 figure is Somerset Council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
