Skip hire in Great Mongeham

First published 14 October 2026. Last checked 14 October 2026.

Great Mongeham is in the Kent County Council highway area (not Medway). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Great Mongeham

Great Mongeham is a village and civil parish in Dover District, on the outskirts of Deal in east Kent. Its name comes from Mundelingham, the settlement of Mundel's people; in 761 AD King Eadbert of Kent gave land including the village to St Augustine's Abbey in Canterbury.

Parts of the church, St Martin's, date from the 13th century, and several buildings in the village have Dutch-style shaped gables.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Great Mongeham". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

Great Mongeham is in Dover District on the edge of Deal; Kent County Council licences skips on the road on both sides of that edge. Give the firm your exact address and postcode, not just Deal, when you book. A skip wholly on your own drive needs no Kent permit; any part on the highway needs the hire company to apply at least five working days ahead.

Kent County Council recycling-centre guidance covers what household DIY waste each site accepts; rules and any booking or charges change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard separate when asked. Source: Kent household waste recycling centres.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Kent County Council area (not Medway) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £45 figure is Kent County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
