Skip hire in Hoo St Werburgh
Hoo St Werburgh sits on the Hoo Peninsula with Main Road and Four Elms Hill approaches that leave limited room for large skip lorries. Medway Council issues the highway skip licence. A skip on the public road needs that licence – the skip company usually applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.
Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Hoo St Werburgh”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.
Which authority
Medway Council is the highway authority for this town (unitary; not Kent County Council). Full permit detail: Skip permit: Medway Council. On that page (rechecked 12 September 2026): skip company usually applies, £73 for the first 14 days, at least three days’ notice, £5m public liability and registered waste carrier. County map: Skip hire in Kent.
Private drive vs road
- Wholly on a driveway or other private land you control: no Medway Council highway licence.
- Any part on the public road or adopted highway: yes. The skip company usually applies.
- National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.
Local placement note
Main Road and Church Street are tight when both sides are parked; Four Elms Hill and peninsula traffic toward the power-station corridor can delay a drop. Prefer a private drive where you can. Medway Council issues the road licence (£73 for 14 days; at least three days’ notice). High-street style skips may need nightly remove unless lockable.
How to hire without a fake directory
- Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
- If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Medway Council highway area and ask them to apply. Give them at least three days.
- Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.
Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £73 figure is Medway Council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
