Skip hire in Lower Halstow

First published 2 October 2026. Last checked 2 October 2026.

Lower Halstow is in the Kent County Council highway area (not Medway). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Lower Halstow

Lower Halstow is a village and civil parish in the Swale district of Kent, northwest of Sittingbourne on the Medway Estuary and north of Newington on the A2. The 2011 Census recorded 1,180 residents.

Occupation here stretches back to the Iron Age; pottery, fishing, barge building and later brick-making all leaned on the creek and estuary.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Lower Halstow". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

Lower Halstow sits on the Medway Estuary northwest of Sittingbourne, north of the A2 at Newington. Prefer a private drive; creek-side lanes and Lower Street toward Halstow Green leave little turning room for a large builders' skip.

Kent County Council recycling-centre guidance covers what household DIY waste each site accepts; rules and any booking or charges change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard separate when asked. Source: Kent household waste recycling centres.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Kent County Council area (not Medway) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £45 figure is Kent County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
