Skip hire in Lynsted
Lynsted is in the Kent County Council highway area (not Medway). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.
About Lynsted

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Lynsted". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.
Which authority
Kent County Council is the highway authority (not Medway). Full permit detail: Skip permit: Kent County Council. On that page (fees rechecked 7 October 2026 on Kent's live highways fees table): £45 per week for 2026 to 2027 (£43 for 2025 to 2026), seven calendar days; at least five working days' notice; company applies; £5m public liability; max skip size 5 m × 2 m in the terms; failure to licence £120. Private drive vs road
- Wholly on a driveway or other private land you control: no highway licence from Kent County Council.
- Any part on the public road or highway: yes. The hire firm applies.
- Pavement: you cannot put a skip there. National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.
Local notes
Lynsted lies just south of the A2 between Faversham and Sittingbourne. Prefer a private drive. Kent's terms bar skips from any waiting restriction, so a road skip needs a stretch with no yellow lines, and it must not block access to other premises without the occupier's consent.
Kent County Council recycling-centre guidance covers what household DIY waste each site accepts; rules and any booking or charges change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard separate when asked. Source: Kent household waste recycling centres.
How to hire without a fake directory
- Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
- If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Kent County Council area (not Medway) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
- Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.
Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £45 figure is Kent County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
