Skip hire in New Romney

First published 27 September 2026. Last checked 27 September 2026.

New Romney is in the Kent County Council highway area (not Medway). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About New Romney

New Romney is a market town on the edge of Romney Marsh in Kent, on flat agricultural land reclaimed as the old harbour silted. It was one of the original Cinque Ports and once stood beside the sea; the coast is now more than a mile away.

It is the headquarters of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in New Romney". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

New Romney sits on the edge of Romney Marsh, inland of Littlestone-on-Sea. Prefer a private drive; High Street and marsh lanes toward Lydd and Dymchurch leave little passing room for a large roadside skip.

Kent County Council recycling-centre guidance covers what household DIY waste each site accepts; rules and any booking or charges change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard separate when asked. Source: Kent household waste recycling centres.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Kent County Council area (not Medway) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £45 figure is Kent County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
