Skip hire in Norton St Philip

First published 13 September 2026. Last checked 13 September 2026.

Norton St Philip is in the Somerset Council highway area. A skip on the public road needs that council’s licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Norton St Philip

Norton St Philip is a village and civil parish about 5.5 miles south of Bath and 5 miles north of Frome, on the eastern slopes of the Mendips. It sits on the A366 and the B3110.

The village is built around a common known as Churchmead or The Mead. Bath is closer than most Somerset towns, but the highway authority is Somerset Council, not BANES.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Norton St Philip”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Somerset Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Somerset Council. On that page (checked 2 September 2026; still the figures we cite on 13 Sep 2026): £109 for 28 days (non-refundable), extension £109, at least ten working days’ notice, accredited contractors only. Do not invent a different fee. County map and the other two unitaries: Skip hire in Somerset.

Local notes

Norton St Philip sits on the A366/B3110 between Bath and Frome. The Mead and village streets are compact; the permit office is Somerset Council, not BANES.

Somerset Council’s construction-waste page lets each household bring up to eight 50-litre sacks of DIY construction waste a month to a recycling site, free, over a maximum of four booked visits. Plasterboard is on that list; extra plasterboard is listed at £6.60 a sheet. Own-home only; pre-book. Not every site takes plasterboard. How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Somerset Council area and ask them to apply. Give them more than ten working days.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £109 figure is Somerset Council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
