Skip hire in Staplehurst

First published 26 September 2026. Last checked 26 September 2026.

Staplehurst is in the Kent County Council highway area (not Medway). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Staplehurst

Staplehurst is a village and civil parish in the borough of Maidstone in Kent, England, 9 miles (14 km) south of the town of Maidstone and with a population of 6,700. The village lies on the route of a Roman road, which is now incorporated into the course of the A229.

The name Staplehurst comes from the Old English 'stapol' meaning a 'post, pillar' and 'hyrst', as a 'wooded hill'; therefore, 'wooded-hill at a post', a possible reference to a boundary marker at the position of All Saints' church atop the hill along the road from Maidstone to Cranbrook. It is classed as a village in the House of Commons Library settlement file.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Staplehurst". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

Staplehurst sits on the A229 south of Maidstone, on the former Roman road route. Prefer a private drive; High Street and station-side streets mix parked cars with through traffic toward Cranbrook and Hastings.

Kent County Council recycling-centre guidance covers what household DIY waste each site accepts; rules and any booking or charges change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard separate when asked. Source: Kent household waste recycling centres.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Kent County Council area (not Medway) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £45 figure is Kent County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
