Skip hire in Stoke-on-Trent

First published 12 September 2026. Last checked 12 September 2026.

Stoke-on-Trent is a HoC Other city – not one of the 1,174 small/medium/large towns. A skip on the public road needs a Stoke-on-Trent City Council highway licence – the skip company usually applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Stoke-on-Trent”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Stoke-on-Trent City Council. On that page (checked 12 Sep 2026): £40 for up to two weeks (council skips page checked 12 Sep 2026). licensed skip operators only.

Local notes

Stoke-on-Trent’s public skips page states £40 for up to two weeks and at least three working days’ notice for registered operators. Fee note: £40 for up to two weeks (council skips page checked 12 Sep 2026), rechecked 12 Sep 2026.

The fee note above is from Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s published page (or an honest note when none was printed), not a hire quote.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Stoke-on-Trent City Council highway area and ask them to apply. Give them the notice on the permit page.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk lists rules and council links, not a directory of firms. When we add a booking partner it will be labelled (affiliate) on partners.
