Skip hire in Tatworth

First published 13 September 2026. Last checked 13 September 2026.

Tatworth is in the Somerset Council highway area. A skip on the public road needs that council’s licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Tatworth

Tatworth is a large village about 2 miles south of Chard, in the civil parish of Tatworth and Forton. It takes in smaller settlements including South Chard, Perry Street and Chard Junction; Forton lies toward Chard.

Chard is the nearest larger town. Road licences here are Somerset Council’s.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Tatworth”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Somerset Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Somerset Council. On that page (checked 2 September 2026; still the figures we cite on 13 Sep 2026): £109 for 28 days (non-refundable), extension £109, at least ten working days’ notice, accredited contractors only. Do not invent a different fee. County map and the other two unitaries: Skip hire in Somerset.

Local notes

Tatworth is a cluster (South Chard, Perry Street, Chard Junction) south of Chard. Tell the firm which part of the parish you mean.

Somerset Council’s construction-waste page lets each household bring up to eight 50-litre sacks of DIY construction waste a month to a recycling site, free, over a maximum of four booked visits. Plasterboard is on that list; extra plasterboard is listed at £6.60 a sheet. Own-home only; pre-book. Not every site takes plasterboard. How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Somerset Council area and ask them to apply. Give them more than ten working days.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £109 figure is Somerset Council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
