Skip hire in Upchurch

First published 11 October 2026. Last checked 11 October 2026.

Upchurch is in the Kent County Council highway area (not Medway). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Upchurch

Upchurch is a village and civil parish in the Swale district, about 2 km north of the A2 between Rainham and Sittingbourne. The surrounding land is low-lying and marshy.

Roman pottery works and a Roman cemetery have been found here, and the 20th-century Upchurch Pottery was sold through outlets such as Liberty & Co until it closed in 1963.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Upchurch". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

Upchurch is in Swale borough but Kent County Council licenses road skips. Lanes towards the marshes can be narrow, so tell the firm about tight bends or parked cars and prefer a private drive. A road skip must carry the owner's name and a 24-hour contact number, be lit at night, and be removed as soon as practicable once it is full (Highways Act section 139(4)).

Kent County Council recycling-centre guidance covers what household DIY waste each site accepts; rules and any booking or charges change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard separate when asked. Source: Kent household waste recycling centres.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Kent County Council area (not Medway) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £45 figure is Kent County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
