Skip permit: East Sussex County Council
If the skip sits on a public road in the East Sussex County Council area, you need a highway skip licence. On the council page checked 12 Sep 2026: £68 for new/renewal skip licence up to 14 days (East Sussex Highways licence fees page, post-1 Apr 2026). registered companies via East Sussex Highways portal. A skip wholly on private land you control does not need this licence.
You usually do not apply as a householder. Tell the hire firm at booking and give them the notice the council asks for. Do not put the skip on the pavement unless the licence allows it.
