Skip hire in Ashingdon

First published 12 October 2026. Last checked 12 October 2026.

Ashingdon is in the Essex County Council highway area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – a licensed skip contractor applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Ashingdon

Ashingdon is a village and civil parish in the Rochford District, immediately north of Rochford and about 13 miles south-east of Chelmsford. The parish also takes in parts of the wider built-up area that runs towards Hockley.

Ashingdon is traditionally linked with the Battle of Assandun in 1016; the parish church of St Andrew stands on high ground overlooking the Crouch valley.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Ashingdon". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Essex County Council (Essex Highways) is the highway authority (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). Full permit detail: Skip permit: Essex County Council. On that page (fees rechecked 12 October 2026 on Essex Highways' live skips page and fees-2026-27.css): £111.66 application and £111.66 renewal, licence valid two weeks; at least ten working days' notice; skip contractor only; £10m public liability; max 6-yard skip on the highway. Private drive vs road

Local notes

Ashingdon is in Rochford district but Essex County Council licences road skips. Lanes towards the Crouch and links into Rochford share space with resident parking; measure the drive before you book. Any part of the skip on the adopted highway needs the contractor to apply with at least ten working days' notice.

Essex County Council recycling centres (Love Essex) are for household waste; some sites accept limited DIY waste if you did the work yourself. Rules, booking and DIY limits change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard and soil within the published limits. Source: Love Essex: DIY waste and find a recycling centre.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Essex County Council area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £111.66 figure is Essex County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
