Skip hire in Berechurch

First published 12 September 2026. Last checked 12 September 2026.

Berechurch sits on Colchester’s southern edge with garrison approaches that share space with residential streets. Essex County Council (Essex Highways) issues the highway skip licence for most roads here. A skip on the public road needs that licence – a licensed skip contractor applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Berechurch”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Essex County Council (Essex Highways) is the highway authority (not Southend or Thurrock). Full permit detail: Skip permit: Essex County Council. On that page (fees rechecked 12 September 2026 from Essex Highways fees-2026-27.css): contractor only, £111.66 application and £111.66 renewal, at least ten working days, 2-week licence, £10m public liability, max 6-yard skip on the highway. Private drive vs road

Local placement note

Berechurch Road and the lanes toward the garrison can be busy with military and school traffic; estate courts often favour a private-drive drop. Confirm you mean Berechurch in Colchester when you book. On Essex Highways roads the published maximum is a 6-yard skip – give the firm at least ten working days. Fee: £111.66 for a two-week licence (2026), rechecked 12 September 2026.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?. On an Essex Highways road the published maximum is a 6-yard skip.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Essex County Council highway area and ask them to apply. Give them at least ten working days.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £111.66 figure is Essex Highways’ published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
