Skip hire in Boreham

First published 14 October 2026. Last checked 14 October 2026.

Boreham is in the Essex County Council highway area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – a licensed skip contractor applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Boreham

Boreham is a village and civil parish in Chelmsford district, about 3.7 miles (6 km) north-east of Chelmsford city centre, bounded to the south by the River Chelmer. It grew up on a Roman road, and in the 1970s a bypass carrying the A12 was built along its northern edge beside the railway.

The village stayed small until the mid-1970s, when new houses and shops enlarged it. At the 2021 census the parish had 3,973 people.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Boreham". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Local notes

Boreham is in Chelmsford district, but Essex County Council (Essex Highways), not the city council, licences skips on the road. The A12 runs along the northern edge with the Boreham Interchange to the west, and the village has two conservation areas, including Roman Road/Plantation Road; on a conservation street, agree the exact spot with the firm. On the highway only a licensed skip contractor can apply, and the published maximum is a 6-yard skip.

Essex County Council recycling centres (Love Essex) are for household waste; some sites accept limited DIY waste if you did the work yourself. Rules, booking and DIY limits change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard and soil within the published limits. Source: Love Essex: DIY waste and find a recycling centre.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Essex County Council area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £111.66 figure is Essex County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
