Skip hire in Bridgwater

First published 2 September 2026. Last checked 2 September 2026.

Bridgwater is under Somerset Council for a road skip – Burnham-on-Sea next door is the same authority. A skip on the public road needs a Somerset Council licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Bridgwater”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Somerset Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Somerset Council. On that page (checked 2 September 2026): £109 for 28 days (non-refundable), extension £109, at least ten working days’ notice, accredited contractors only. DIY construction waste at Somerset recycling sites

For a small DIY clear-out, Somerset Council’s recycling sites take up to eight 50-litre sacks of construction and demolition waste a month free, across no more than four booked visits. Plasterboard is on that free list; beyond it, £6.60 a sheet. Own-home waste only, booked in advance. Source: Somerset Council construction and demolition waste disposal. How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Somerset Council area and ask them to apply. Give them more than ten working days.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £109 figure is Somerset Council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
