Skip hire in Coggeshall

First published 13 October 2026. Last checked 13 October 2026.

Coggeshall is in the Essex County Council highway area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – a licensed skip contractor applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Coggeshall

Coggeshall is a market town and civil parish in the Braintree district, between Braintree and Colchester on the River Blackwater. It lies on the Roman road of Stane Street, now followed by the A120, which has bypassed the town since around 1982.

Coggeshall has almost 300 listed buildings and a market charter granted by Henry III in 1256; Coggeshall Abbey was founded on the south bank of the Blackwater around 1140.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Coggeshall". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Local notes

Coggeshall is in Braintree district; Essex County Council licences skips on the road. With almost 300 listed buildings, the older centre may give a delivery lorry little room, so agree the exact spot with the firm and check the lorry can reach it. Any part on the highway needs the contractor's application at least ten working days ahead, and the published maximum on the highway is a 6-yard skip.

Essex County Council recycling centres (Love Essex) are for household waste; some sites accept limited DIY waste if you did the work yourself. Rules, booking and DIY limits change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard and soil within the published limits. Source: Love Essex: DIY waste and find a recycling centre.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Essex County Council area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £111.66 figure is Essex County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
