Skip hire in Frinton-on-Sea
Frinton-on-Sea is in the Essex County Council highway area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – a licensed skip contractor applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.
About Frinton-on-Sea
Frinton-on-Sea is a seaside town in the civil parish of Frinton and Walton, in the Tendring district. It was a small village of a church, a few farms and cottages until developers laid out a resort in the 1880s; Frinton station opened in 1888.
Connaught Avenue, the main shopping street, links the station to the Esplanade, and the Greensward separates the Esplanade from the sea.
Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Frinton-on-Sea". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.
Which authority
Essex County Council (Essex Highways) is the highway authority (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). Full permit detail: Skip permit: Essex County Council. On that page (fees rechecked 13 October 2026 on Essex Highways' live skips page and fees-2026-27.css): £111.66 application and £111.66 renewal, licence valid two weeks; at least ten working days' notice; skip contractor only; £10m public liability; max 6-yard skip on the highway. County map: Skip hire in Essex.
Private drive vs road
- Wholly on a driveway or other private land you control: no highway licence from Essex County Council.
- Any part on the public road or highway: yes. A licensed skip contractor applies – householders cannot.
- Pavement: you cannot put a skip there. National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.
Local notes
Frinton has three road ways in: an unadopted road from Walton-on-the-Naze to the north, a residential road, and the CCTV-monitored level crossing next to the station (it replaced the old gated crossing in 2009). Tell the firm which approach suits your street before they send a long lorry. Essex Highways licences skips on roads, pavements and verges it maintains; if your road is unadopted, ask the firm and the road's owner what applies before booking.
Essex County Council recycling centres (Love Essex) are for household waste; some sites accept limited DIY waste if you did the work yourself. Rules, booking and DIY limits change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard and soil within the published limits. Source: Love Essex: DIY waste and find a recycling centre.
How to hire without a fake directory
- Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
- If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Essex County Council area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
- Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.
Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £111.66 figure is Essex County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
