Skip hire in Hatfield Peverel

First published 12 October 2026. Last checked 12 October 2026.

Hatfield Peverel is in the Essex County Council highway area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – a licensed skip contractor applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Hatfield Peverel

Hatfield Peverel is a village and civil parish in central Essex, about 6 miles north-east of Chelmsford in the Braintree district. It sits on the A12 corridor and has a railway station on the Great Eastern Main Line.

The parish includes Nounsley; a former priory site and the parish church of St Andrew mark the older core of the village.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Hatfield Peverel". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

Hatfield Peverel is in Braintree district; Essex Highways (Essex County Council) licences road skips, not the district council. The village sits hard against the A12 and the railway; estate roads and the station approach can be tight for a long vehicle. Say clearly whether the skip stays on a private drive or needs a highway licence before the firm books the slot.

Essex County Council recycling centres (Love Essex) are for household waste; some sites accept limited DIY waste if you did the work yourself. Rules, booking and DIY limits change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard and soil within the published limits. Source: Love Essex: DIY waste and find a recycling centre.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Essex County Council area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £111.66 figure is Essex County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
