Skip hire in North Weald Bassett

First published 13 October 2026. Last checked 13 October 2026.

North Weald Bassett is in the Essex County Council highway area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – a licensed skip contractor applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About North Weald Bassett

North Weald Bassett, often just North Weald, is a village and civil parish in the Epping Forest district, about 20 miles north-east of central London. The parish lies between the edges of Harlow to the north and Epping to the south-west, and includes the hamlets of Foster Street, Thornwood, Tyler's Green and Hastingwood.

North Weald Airfield, a fighter station in the Battle of Britain, is still an operational general aviation aerodrome and hosts a Saturday market.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in North Weald Bassett". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

North Weald Bassett is in Epping Forest district; Essex County Council licences skips on the road. Postal addresses are split between the Harlow and Epping post towns, but the highway authority is Essex County Council either way, so do not let a Harlow or Epping postcode confuse the booking. The M11 crosses the parish with a junction on the A414; if you live on a main road, ask the firm to plan a safe drop or use your drive.

Essex County Council recycling centres (Love Essex) are for household waste; some sites accept limited DIY waste if you did the work yourself. Rules, booking and DIY limits change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard and soil within the published limits. Source: Love Essex: DIY waste and find a recycling centre.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Essex County Council area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £111.66 figure is Essex County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
