Skip hire in Sible Hedingham

First published 13 October 2026. Last checked 13 October 2026.

Sible Hedingham is in the Essex County Council highway area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock). A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – a licensed skip contractor applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Sible Hedingham

Sible Hedingham is a village and civil parish in the Colne Valley in north Essex, close to the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire borders. It lies about 21 miles north of Chelmsford, and the A1017 between Braintree and Haverhill runs through the middle of the village.

Outside the village the parish takes in a number of smaller hamlets, and St Peter's church is Grade II* listed.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Sible Hedingham". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

Sible Hedingham is in Braintree district; Essex County Council licences skips on the road. The A1017 runs through the centre, and Braintree District Council has two conservation areas here (Queen Street, Potter Street, part of Swan Street and Alderford Street; and Rectory Road with Church Street). On the main road or an older street, a drive drop is easier; any part on the highway needs the contractor to apply at least ten working days ahead.

Essex County Council recycling centres (Love Essex) are for household waste; some sites accept limited DIY waste if you did the work yourself. Rules, booking and DIY limits change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard and soil within the published limits. Source: Love Essex: DIY waste and find a recycling centre.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Essex County Council area (not Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock) and ask them to apply. Recheck the council fees page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £111.66 figure is Essex County Council's published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
