Skip hire in South Newton

First published 25 September 2026. Last checked 25 September 2026.

South Newton is in the Wiltshire Council highway area. A skip on the public road needs that council's licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About South Newton

South Newton is a village and civil parish about 4 miles (6.4 km) north-west of Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. Topologically it lies between chalk downs to the north-east, and downland with Grovely Wood to the south-west.

The village straddles the A36 road and is on the left bank of the River Wylye, which defines much of the western boundary of the parish; the eastern boundary follows the A360 Salisbury-Devizes road. It is classed as a village in the House of Commons Library settlement file.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in South Newton". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Wiltshire Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Wiltshire Council. On that page (checked 25 September 2026; live council licences page rechecked tonight – still no pound fee printed on the accessible scaffolding/skips page, and the Civica payment portal returned unavailable): fee not printed on council page. S139 skip licence; the hire firm applies. Do not invent a fee from a third-party site. County map: Skip hire in Wiltshire.

Private drive vs road

Local notes

South Newton sits on Wiltshire Council’s highway network, with Salisbury-side lanes in play for deliveries. Prefer a private drive; village streets and through-routes leave little room for a long roadside stay.

Wiltshire Council recycling-centre guidance covers booking and what each site accepts for household DIY waste; rules and any charges change, so check before you travel and keep plasterboard separate when asked. Source: Wiltshire recycling centres.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Wiltshire Council area and ask them to apply. Recheck the council page for notice and any fee on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. For Wiltshire we still show an honest "fee not printed" note rather than inventing a pound figure. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
