Skip hire in Stradbroke

First published 16 October 2026. Last checked 16 October 2026.

Stradbroke is in the Suffolk County Council highway area. A skip on the public road, pavement or verge needs the council's skip licence, and only the skip company can apply, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

About Stradbroke

Stradbroke ( STRAD-brook) is an English village in the Mid Suffolk district of the county of Suffolk. The census of 2011 gave the parish a population of 1,408, with an estimate of 1,513 in 2018.

The village was listed in the Domesday Book of 1096 as being in the Bishop's Hundred, later renamed Hoxne Hundred.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or "top skips in Stradbroke". Check the carrier's CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Suffolk County Council is the highway authority for every Suffolk district (Babergh, East Suffolk, Ipswich, Mid Suffolk, West Suffolk). Full permit detail: Skip permit: Suffolk County Council. On the council's skip licence page (checked 16 October 2026): £95 for the first two weeks, £47.50 per two-week extension; at least three working days to process; licences issued only to a skip company. Trunk roads are National Highways, not the county. County map: Skip hire in Suffolk.

Local notes

Stradbroke is in Mid Suffolk district, but Suffolk County Council, not the district council, licences skips on the road; only the skip company can apply, with at least three working days' notice, and the licence covers the first two weeks. Stradbroke is a small settlement, so give the firm your full Stradbroke address and postcode rather than the nearest town's name, and check lorry access down any narrow lane before booking.

Suffolk's recycling centres need a booked time slot, and household waste from your home is free. Hardcore, rubble, soil, ceramic bathroom items and plasterboard are not household waste: DIY quantities from your own home are free up to published limits, plasterboard is taken at five sites only, and charges may apply above the limits. How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the Suffolk County Council area and ask them to apply at least three working days ahead. Recheck the council page on the day you book.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £95 figure is Suffolk County Council's published licence fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
