Skip hire in Yatton
Yatton sits between Clevedon and Congresbury with a High Street and railway approaches that leave little kerb space. North Somerset Council issues the highway skip licence. A skip on the public road needs that licence – the hire firm applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.
Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Yatton”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.
Which authority
North Somerset Council is the highway authority – not Somerset Council. Full permit detail: Skip permit: North Somerset Council. On that page (rechecked 12 September 2026): £86 standard, £122 with less than five working days’ notice, £172 retrospective (2026–27 charges PDF); at least five working days; company applies; £5m public liability; parking bay suspension may be needed on the highway. County map: Skip hire in Somerset.
Private drive vs road
- Wholly on a driveway or other private land you control: no North Somerset Council highway licence.
- Any part on the public road or adopted highway: yes. The hire firm applies.
- National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.
Local placement note
High Street and the station approaches share space with Clevedon Road traffic; Claverham lanes can be too narrow for an artic without a drive. Prefer a private-drive drop if you have one. For a road placement, the hire firm applies to North Somerset Council with at least five working days. Fee: £86 standard (£122 under five working days; £172 retrospective), rechecked 12 September 2026.
How to hire without a fake directory
- Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
- If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the North Somerset Council highway area and ask them to apply. Give them at least five working days.
- Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.
Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £86 / £122 / £172 figures are North Somerset’s published permit fees, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
