Skip hire in Abersychan

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Abersychan sits in Torfaen north of Pontypool. A skip on the public highway needs Torfaen’s skip permit – the company applies. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Abersychan”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Torfaen County Borough Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Torfaen Council. On that page (checked 11 September 2026): £64 per week or part-week, at least 24 hours’ notice, company applies with ≥£10 million PL. Nation map: Skip hire in Wales.

Private drive vs road

Local placement note

Steep valley streets and terrace rows favour smaller skips or a private hardstanding. If the skip must sit on the road, give the firm at least 24 hours, budget Torfaen’s £64 weekly charge, and confirm the firm holds the ≥£10 million public liability cover Torfaen expects.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm which principal council applies and ask them to apply. Use the notice period on the permit page.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £64 / week figure is the council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
