Skip permit: Torfaen Council

Cwmbrân and other Torfaen towns use Torfaen County Borough Council for highway skip permits. The council’s Skip Permits page (checked 11 September 2026) charges £64 per week or part-week (paid in advance), needs at least 24 hours’ notice, and will not issue a permit to a member of the public.

A permit will not be issued to a member of the public. Liability insurance must be valid and not less than £10,000,000. Illegal or non-compliant skips can attract an initial £209 non-compliance charge plus removal and storage fees.

Who applies

The skip company contacts the council. Apply online via Torfaen’s skip or scaffolding permit form. Email skipsandscaffoldingpermits@torfaen.gov.uk.

A sensible order

  1. Can it sit wholly on the drive? If yes, book that and skip the licence.
  2. If it has to go on the road, tell the hire firm at booking. They apply. Give them at least 24 hours.
