Skip hire in Barking and Dagenham
Barking and Dagenham is a HoC Core city (London) – not one of the 1,174 small/medium/large towns. A skip on the public road needs the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham highway process – the skip company usually applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.
Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Barking and Dagenham”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.
Which authority

Private drive vs road
- Wholly on a driveway or other private land you control: no London Borough of Barking and Dagenham highway skip licence.
- Any part on the public road or adopted highway: yes (unless the City of London no-standing-skip rule applies – see the permit page).
- TfL red routes: usually TfL, not the borough – confirm which authority owns the road.
- National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.
Local notes
- Barking and Dagenham only issues highway skip permits to registered contractors (£390.29 registration with £5m PL and a waste-carrier licence).
- The accessible skip-permits page did not print a per-skip pound fee – ask the registered firm what the permit itself will cost.
Fee note from London Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s published page (or an honest note when none was printed), rechecked 12 Sep 2026 – not a hire quote.
How to hire without a fake directory
- Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
- If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham highway area and ask them to apply. Give them the notice on the permit page.
- Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.
Skip Clerk lists rules and council links, not a directory of firms. When we add a booking partner it will be labelled (affiliate) on partners.
