Skip permit: London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

First published 12 September 2026. Last checked 12 September 2026.

If the skip sits on a public road in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham area, you need a highway skip licence. On the council page checked 12 Sep 2026: no skip-permit pound fee printed on the accessible LBBD skip-permits page (12 Sep 2026). registered contractors only. A skip wholly on private land you control does not need this licence. Some London roads are TfL-controlled red routes – the borough page will not cover those.

Tell the hire firm at booking if it must sit on the road. Do not invent a fee from a third-party site – recheck the council page on the day you book. Do not put the skip on the pavement unless the licence allows it.

A sensible order

  1. Can it sit wholly on the drive? If yes, book that and skip the licence.
  2. If it has to go on the road, tell the hire firm at booking. They apply. Give them the notice above. Check whether the kerb is borough or TfL.
  3. Check their waste-carrier number – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Size the job on the size guide.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no skip-hire prices on this page. Fee figures above are the council’s published permit charges (or an honest note when none was printed), not a hire quote.
