Skip hire in Chepstow

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Chepstow sits on the Wye in Monmouthshire, next to the English border. A skip on the public highway needs Monmouthshire’s skip licence – not a neighbouring English authority. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Chepstow”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Monmouthshire Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Monmouthshire Council. On that page (checked 11 September 2026): £108 for four weeks from 1 April 2026, plus £27 each extra week. Nation map: Skip hire in Wales.

Local placement note

Confirm the hire firm is applying to Monmouthshire County Council, not South Gloucestershire or Forest of Dean across the border. Steep streets toward the castle and river bridge are tight for larger skips – size the job honestly.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm which principal council applies and ask them to apply. Use the notice period on the permit page.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £108 / 4 weeks figure is the council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
