Skip hire in Colwyn Bay

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Colwyn Bay sits in Conwy County Borough on the North Wales coast. A skip on the public highway needs Conwy’s skip licence. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Colwyn Bay”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Conwy Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Conwy Council. On that page (checked 11 September 2026): £71.90 for 28 days, plus £14.40 where a parking restriction is needed, £117 retrospective, at least five working days’ notice. Nation map: Skip hire in Wales.

Private drive vs road

Local placement note

Promenade and Victorian terrace streets toward Rhos-on-Sea often sit in parking-controlled bays – ask the firm whether the extra £14.40 parking-restriction charge applies. Do not place the skip before the licence is granted; Conwy’s retrospective fee is £117.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm which principal council applies and ask them to apply. Use the notice period on the permit page.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £71.90 / 28 days figure is the council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
