Skip hire in Dunfermline

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Dunfermline sits in Fife. Fife Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a Fife skip permit – £26 per week with at least seven days’ notice on the council’s apply form (checked 11 September 2026). A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not need that permit. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Dunfermline”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.

Dunfermline Recycling Centre

Fife Council lists Dunfermline Recycling Centre at Lochhead Landfill Site, north of Wellwood, Dunfermline KY12 0RX. Household Waste Recycling Centres are for domestic waste; commercial waste cannot be brought in. Some Fife centres require a booked visit – check Fife’s recycling-centres page for Dunfermline before you travel. Source: Dunfermline Recycling Centre and Fife recycling centres.

Driveway vs road

If the skip can sit wholly on land you control, you avoid a Fife roads permit you have not priced yet. If it must sit on the road, get the hire firm’s current Fife charge in writing.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £26 figure is Fife’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
