Skip hire in Gorebridge and Mayfield

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Gorebridge and Mayfield sits under Midlothian Council. Midlothian Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a Section 85 builders’ skip permit – £65 (checked 11 September 2026). A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. Gorebridge and Mayfield share Midlothian’s roads authority with Bonnyrigg and Dalkeith. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Gorebridge and Mayfield”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.

Private drive vs road

Estate roads and the A7 corridor

Estate roads through Mayfield and the A7 approaches to Gorebridge can be tight for larger builders’ skips. Prefer private hardstanding, and give the firm Midlothian’s five working days before delivery.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £65 figure is the council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
