Skip hire in Gourock

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Gourock sits under Inverclyde Council. Inverclyde Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a Section 85 builders’ skip permit – £36.55 / week (checked 11 September 2026). A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. Gourock sits west of Greenock under Inverclyde. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Gourock”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.

Private drive vs road

Pier and Kempock Street

Pier and Kempock Street leave little room for a large skip. Prefer private hardstanding; Inverclyde’s weekly fee is £36.55 (retrospective add-on £85.90 on the 2026/27 fees page).

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £36.55 figure is the council’s published weekly permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
