Skip hire in Haddington

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Haddington sits in East Lothian (council offices are here). East Lothian Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a builders’ skip permit – commercial £62 for four weeks on the 2026/27 schedule, or household £41 if you qualify (checked 11 September 2026). A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Haddington”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.

Which authority

Private drive vs road

Town-centre streets

Town-centre streets around Court Street can be tight. Prefer a private-drive drop where you have one, and give the hire firm the usual East Lothian skip-permit lead (~10 days).

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £62 / £41 figures are the council’s published permit fees, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
