Skip hire in Hayle
Hayle sits on the north coast between St Ives and Camborne; Cornwall Council issues the highway skip licence. A skip on the public road needs a Cornwall Council licence – the skip company applies, not you. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.
Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Hayle”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.
Which authority
Cornwall Council is the unitary highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Cornwall Council. On that page (checked 6 September 2026; fees reconfirmed live 7 September 2026): skip company applies, £115 per calendar month, emergency licence £163, extension £115 before expiry or £163 late, change £45, non-emergency applications take a minimum of two weeks, Streetworks Inspector may visit. County map: Skip hire in Cornwall.
Private drive vs road
- Wholly on a driveway or other private land you control: no Cornwall highway licence. Cornwall’s page says place the skip within your property boundary if you have space.
- Any part on the public road or adopted highway: yes. The skip company applies.
- National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.
Tip booking note
Nearby St Erth Household Waste and Recycling Centre is one of Cornwall’s seven tip sites that need a booked slot. Book before you drive tip waste there. Dudnance Lane (toward Camborne/Redruth) does not take DIY waste – for soil, rubble or plasterboard use an accepting site or a licensed skip. How to hire without a fake directory
- Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
- If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm you are in Cornwall Council and ask them to apply. Give them at least two weeks.
- Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.
Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £115 / £163 figures are Cornwall Council’s published permit fees, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
