Skip hire in Monmouth

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Monmouth sits in Monmouthshire at the Monnow. A skip on the public highway needs Monmouthshire’s skip licence. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Monmouth”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Monmouthshire Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Monmouthshire Council. On that page (checked 11 September 2026): £108 for four weeks from 1 April 2026, plus £27 each extra week. Nation map: Skip hire in Wales.

Private drive vs road

Local placement note

Town-centre and bridge approaches can be tight; estate streets outside the centre are usually easier for skip lorries. Ask the firm to apply under Monmouthshire’s from-April-2026 fee (£108 / four weeks) and to flag any extra week early.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm which principal council applies and ask them to apply. Use the notice period on the permit page.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £108 / 4 weeks figure is the council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
