Skip hire in Newport

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

This is Newport in Wales (Newport City Council), not Newport on the Isle of Wight. A skip on the public highway needs a Newport permit – the skip company applies. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Newport”. Check the carrier’s CBDU number, then ask who will apply for the road licence.

Which authority

Newport City Council is the highway authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Newport City Council. On that page (checked 11 September 2026): £63.63 for 14 days; company applies; ask to see the permit before placement. Nation map: Skip hire in Wales.

Private drive vs road

Local placement note

Newport’s own skips page bans placement on blind corners, give-way junctions, bus stops, double yellow lines, school crossing patrol zones and grass verges. Pillgwenlly and Maindee terraces often need a road drop – tell the firm early. Confirm you mean Newport, Wales, when you book.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, tell the firm which principal council applies and ask them to apply. Use the notice period on the permit page.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £63.63 / 14 days figure is the council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
