Skip hire in Queensferry

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Queensferry sits under City of Edinburgh Council. City of Edinburgh Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a Section 85 builders’ skip permit – £42/week up to 14 yards (checked 11 September 2026). A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. Queensferry (South Queensferry) sits under the Forth bridges inside City of Edinburgh Council – not Fife. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Queensferry”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.

Private drive vs road

High Street and bridge approaches

The historic High Street and bridge approaches are tight for larger skips. Prefer private hardstanding; Edinburgh’s 2026/27 band is £42 per week for skips up to 14 yards, and the hire firm applies with at least five working days.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £42 figure is Edinburgh’s published 2026/27 weekly fee for skips up to 14 yards, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
