Skip hire in Arbroath

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Arbroath sits in Angus. Angus Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a Section 85 permit – £126 per month on the council’s Section 85 page (checked 11 September 2026). The hire company applies on your behalf, with at least 10 working days’ notice (20 on traffic-sensitive routes) and £5m PL. A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not need that permit. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Arbroath”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.

Which authority

Angus Council is the roads authority. Full permit detail: Skip permit: Angus Council – £126/month; hire company applies. Country map: Skip hire in Scotland. Nearby: Dundee (separate authority).

Private drive vs road

Harbour and High Street

Harbour and High Street streets can be traffic-sensitive. Give the hire firm the longer 20-working-day lead if your street is on Angus’s traffic-sensitive list, and do not try to lodge the permit yourself without £5m PL.

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £126 figure is the council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
