Skip hire in East Kilbride
East Kilbride sits in South Lanarkshire. South Lanarkshire Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a Section 85 permit – £80.93 per two weeks with 14 days’ notice on the council’s roads permits table (checked 11 September 2026). A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not need that permit. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.
Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in East Kilbride”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.
Which authority

Private drive vs road
- Wholly on a driveway or other private land you control: no roads-authority permit.
- Any part on the public road or footway: yes. Ask the hire firm to apply under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.
- National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.
East Kilbride Waste and Recycling Centre
South Lanarkshire’s East Kilbride Waste and Recycling Centre is at Peel Park Industrial Estate, East Kilbride G74 5LW. You need to book a slot before visiting; last entry is 15 minutes before closing. Source: East Kilbride Waste and Recycling Centre.
Driveway vs road
New-town layouts often have driveway space. Use it if you can – you avoid a roads permit you have not priced yet. If the skip must sit on the road, get the hire firm’s South Lanarkshire permit figure in writing.
How to hire without a fake directory
- Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
- If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
- Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.
Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £80.93 figure is South Lanarkshire’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
