Skip hire in Hamilton

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Hamilton is the administrative centre of South Lanarkshire. South Lanarkshire Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a Section 85 permit – £80.93 per two weeks with 14 days’ notice on the council’s roads permits table (checked 11 September 2026). A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Hamilton”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.

Private drive vs road

Bothwell Road recycling centre

South Lanarkshire’s Hamilton Waste and Recycling Centre is on Bothwell Road (ML3). Book a slot before visiting household sites; do not take commercial skip waste to a household centre. Source: South Lanarkshire waste and recycling directory (confirm live booking rules before you travel).

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £80.93 / 2 weeks figure is the council’s published permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
