Skip hire in Montrose

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

Montrose sits under Angus Council. Angus Council is the roads authority. A skip on the public road needs a Section 85 builders’ skip permit – £126 / month (checked 11 September 2026). A skip wholly on a private drive you control does not. Montrose sits on the Angus coast under Angus Council. This page is placement and waste rules, not a list of firms.

Skip Clerk does not invent provider rankings, phone numbers or “top skips in Montrose”. Check the carrier on SEPA, then ask who will apply for the road permit.

Private drive vs road

Harbour and High Street

Harbour and High Street streets can be narrow. Prefer private hardstanding; Angus charges £126 per month, the hire company applies, and notice is at least ten working days (twenty if traffic-sensitive).

How to hire without a fake directory

  1. Decide the size from the job – What size skip do I need?.
  2. If it has to sit on the road, name the roads authority and ask the firm to apply. Scotland is not Highways Act 1980.
  3. Ask for the waste-carrier number and check it on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Keep plasterboard, electricals and sofas out of a mixed skip unless the operator says otherwise – what you cannot put in a skip.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no prices for skip hire on this page. The £126 figure is the council’s published monthly permit fee, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
