Permits

Skip permit: Aberdeen City Council

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

If the skip sits on an Aberdeen public road, pavement or footway, you need permission from Aberdeen City Council as roads authority under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 – not Highways Act 1980. The council’s public Roadworks permits hub covers scaffolding and related road occupation; a dedicated skip fee, notice period and applicant rule were not printed on the public pages we could read on 11 September 2026. Do not invent a fee – ask the hire firm or Roadworks.

We are not printing a pound figure for Aberdeen. Third-party sites quote various amounts; none of those is a substitute for the council’s own charge. Recheck Roadworks or your hire firm’s quote before you book.

When you need one

The statutory hook is Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, section 85.

Who applies

Not printed as “contractor only” on the public Roadworks hub we checked. Local operators say they apply for you – ask the hire firm at booking who will contact Roadworks Co-ordination.

A sensible order

  1. Can it sit wholly on the drive? If yes, book that and skip the permit.
  2. If it has to go on the road, tell the hire firm you are in Aberdeen City and ask them to apply via Roadworks. Do not invent a fee.
  3. Check their waste-carrier registration on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Size the job on the size guide.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no skip-hire prices on this page. No Aberdeen permit fee is quoted here because it was not on the public pages we checked. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
