Skip permit: Isle of Anglesey Council

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

If the skip sits on an Isle of Anglesey County Council highway, you must go through a skip company already registered with the council. Isle of Anglesey’s Fees and Charges 2026/27 schedule (checked 11 September 2026) lists a standard skip permit at £31.00 for 7 days or £62.00 for 1 month, with published overrun charges. A skip wholly on private land you control does not need this permit.

You cannot apply as a householder. Unregistered skip companies must register first (£440.00 on the same schedule). Traffic-sensitive streets and roll-on / roll-off skips have higher published fees. Tacit consent does not apply.

When you need one

The statutory hook is still Highways Act 1980, section 139. National rule: Do I need a skip permit?.

A sensible order

  1. Can it sit wholly on the drive? If yes, book that and skip the licence.
  2. If it has to go on the road, tell the hire firm at booking. They apply. Ask whether they are already registered with Isle of Anglesey County Council and whether the pitch is traffic-sensitive.
  3. Check their waste-carrier number – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Size the job on the size guide.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no skip-hire prices on this page. Fee figures above are the council’s published permit charges, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
