Skip permit: Perth and Kinross Council

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

If the skip sits on a Perth and Kinross public road, you need Section 85 permission from Perth and Kinross Council under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 – not Highways Act 1980. The 2026 application form (checked 11 September 2026) publishes £40.00 per week or part thereof (Monday to Sunday). Applications may only be made by the skip owner, with at least five working days’ notice.

Householders cannot apply. Tell the hire firm (the skip owner) to lodge the form and pay before the permit is issued. Metered parking or council car parks may add a separate parking-suspension charge.

When you need one

The statutory hook is Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, section 85.

Who applies

A sensible order

  1. Can it sit wholly on the drive? If yes, book that and skip the permit.
  2. If it has to go on the road, tell the hire firm which roads authority covers your street and ask them to apply under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.
  3. Check their waste-carrier registration on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Size the job on the size guide.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no skip-hire prices on this page. The fee figures are Perth and Kinross Council's published permit charges, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
