Skip permit: Falkirk Council

First published 11 September 2026. Last checked 11 September 2026.

If the skip sits on a Falkirk public road, footway or verge, you need a builders’ skip permit from Falkirk Council under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 – not Highways Act 1980. The skip permits page (checked 11 September 2026) publishes £50.10 per week or part thereof. Submit a location plan (not less than 1:1250) at least 7 days before the required siting date.

Aimed at skip hire businesses and skip owners. The skip must be clearly marked with the owner’s name and address or telephone number.

When you need one

The statutory hook is Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, section 85.

A sensible order

  1. Can it sit wholly on the drive? If yes, book that and skip the permit.
  2. If it has to go on the road, tell the hire firm which roads authority covers your street and ask them to apply under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.
  3. Check their waste-carrier registration on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
  4. Size the job on the size guide.

Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no skip-hire prices on this page. The fee figures are Falkirk Council's published permit charges, not a hire quote. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
