Permits
Skip permit: Moray Council
If the skip sits on a Moray public road or car park, you need a builders’ skip permit from Moray Council under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 – not Highways Act 1980. The Road Occupations – Skips page (checked 11 September 2026) states permits can only be obtained through a bona fide skip hire company, with at least five working days from receipt of the application. No printed pound figure appears on that public page – do not invent a fee; ask the hire firm.
We are not printing a Moray permit pound figure. Third-party directories are not a substitute for the council’s own schedule. Ask the hire firm what they will charge for the permit.

A sensible order
- Can it sit wholly on the drive? If yes, book that and skip the permit.
- If it has to go on the road, tell the hire firm which roads authority covers your street and ask them to apply under the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.
- Check their waste-carrier registration on SEPA – how to check a waste carrier licence.
- Size the job on the size guide.
Skip Clerk has no hire partners yet and no skip-hire prices on this page. No Moray permit fee is quoted here because a printed pound figure was not on the public page we checked. When we add a booking link it will be marked as an affiliate link.
